how to define your target market

I wanted to chat today about finding your target market. Realistically, when you begin your business you should have already mapped this out but, unfortunately, most business owners find they aren’t elaborate enough in the beginning with who they’re really speaking to. If you have designated a target market but still find you’re unable to connect, your market could be too broad. It happens: you get so excited to launch a product and tell yourself that everyone wants to buy from you but, in reality, that will never work.

In marketing, theres a saying I really want you to get familiar with:

If you’re selling to everyone, you’re selling to no one.

That saying holds true in so many ways and a lot of business owners (and influencers) find that out the hard way. After spinning their wheels for years, they realize they NEED to niche and get exclusive about who they’re talking to but find it terrifying to do so. The truth is, you absolutely will never get anywhere if you don’t know who you’re speaking to.

In your newsletter. On your website. On Instagram. In Instagram stories. On Facebook. With your branding. Who are you speaking to?

By getting real with yourself about WHO you’re speaking to in the first place, you’re able to know who they are, where they hang out, what they value, and how you can speak intimately to them. Knowing how to speak to a buyer in their love language is a trick I hope you’ll have up your sleeve after using my workbook.

I want you to feel confident with who you’re speaking to so you can show up, speak directly to them, and start converting more lurkers to followers, more readers to buyers, and more strangers to true fans. Stop wasting time talking to everyone because everyone will never be your customer or reader.
